Gareth Bale probably ought to be reasonably happy with his lot.
He’s plying his trade for one of the best club sides in the world, and has played a huge role in his country all but qualifying for Euro 2016.
But according to the player’s agent, he could be even better off if he had chosen to play for England instead of Wales.
Speaking at the Soccerex convention, agent Jonathan Barnett said of the player, who was eligible for England through his grandmother: “I tell you that it has cost him millions and millions of pounds.
“You can imagine what it would have been like if he were playing for England next summer in the Euros… but he does love playing for Wales,” Barnett added.
Still, with a chance to represent Wales at their first major tournament for a couple of generations, we doubt Bale’s too fussed.
