Trent and Greenwood are back
Gareth Southgate has named his first England squad since Euro 2020 for the upcoming international break on the first weekend of September.
Patrick Bamford has been called up to his first senior international squad after impressing with Leeds United.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was selected in Southgate’s 33-man provisional squad for Euro 2020 but missed out through injury, is back in the squad for England’s World Cup qualifiers against Hungary, Andorra and Poland.
Marcus Rashford is yet to play a game for Manchester United this season as he continues his recovery from a shoulder operation, while Mason Greenwood also misses out despite scoring two goals already this season.
Dean Henderson’s injury also makes room for a return for Nick Pope.

On Tuesday evening, the Premier League announced that the 20 clubs had ‘reluctantly but unanimously’ agreed not to release players for international duty to countries on the UK’s red list, due to the absence of exemptions to quarantine laws being made for the players upon their return.

Brazil and Egypt are both on the UK’s red list, meaning the two nations will be without Gabriel Jesus, Ederson, Fabinho, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah for their qualifying games.
This stance has caused a rift with FIFA and CONMEBOL, the governing body of South American football, whose competing nations will be missing several key players who are based in England.
