Gareth Southgate, style icon
Gareth Southgate has been hailed as England’s footballing saviour, as the national team progressed to the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 2006.
Football fans nationwide are enamoured with everything about Southgate. Firstly how nice he is, he just seems like a thoroughly genuine and down to earth bloke, who’s not getting carried away but has a very positive approach to life.
It’s not only his character and tactical nouse that people are in love with though. His fashion sense has attracted praise from plenty of fans too.
Waistcoat sales increased by 35% after Southgate was seen donning one on the touchline in Russia. That is the influence that comes with making England good at football again.
When BBC presenter Gabby Logan put it to him that he is being hailed as a fashion icon, he appreciated the compliment but asserted that if he is considered the epitome of style, “we’re in trouble.”

England are heavy favourites going into their quarter-final against Sweden, but may have to play without Dele Alli, who played 80 minutes against Colombia after coming back from a thigh strain that he sustained against Tunisia.
The winner will play either Croatia or Russia in the semi-finals.
Gareth Southgate, the whole of England is with you.
