Nobody has contributed to more Premier League goals since last August than Mr Jamie Vardy.
The Leicester striker may have finished with one less goal than Golden Boot winner Harry Kane but his six assists mean that you’d have to be pretty senseless to leave him out of any iteration of a team of the season.
Well that’s just what Garth Crooks, former Spurs forward and bizarre team aficionado, has done with his XI of the 2015/16 campaign.
Known to have selected as many as four strikers in previous team of the week picks, it’s rather surprising that Crooks didn’t go 4-3-3 with Vardy, Kane and Sergio Aguero up top and it’s also somewhat odd that Philippe Coutinho got the shout in midfield ahead of the likes of Dele Alli, Mesut Ozil and Danny Drinkwater.
Ryan Bertrand over Christian Fuchs is the other striking selection in the team that looks like this.
Did he just forget about the Leicester front man? Is he trolling us all? Or was Crooks simply not invited to the latest Vardy party? Frankly, who the hell knows?
Reassuringly, Garth hasn’t decided to snub Vardy, Ozil and other for Saoirse Ronan – as was the case when JOE writers decided to select their own teams of the year.
