*Extremely slow clap*
Long live the king of Dad jokes.
Gary Lineker is a national sweetheart. Everyone’s mum loves him and he’s unquestionably a brilliant presenter. He’s also famously very active on Twitter, and sportingly indulges the fans who insist on reminding him of that time he quite literally ‘shat on the pitch’.
His Twitter activity is most useful for finding out what the order of games is for Match of the Day, unless you like cringeworthy Dad jokes. In that case, you’ll love his take on Philippe Coutinho’s transfer to Barcelona today.
Outrageous really that a player in his prime would ever want to leave a club in Liverpool for Barcelona.

Lineker is, of course, referencing his own transfer from Everton to Barcelona in 1986. An incredibly witty gag, I’m sure you – or at least yer da – will agree.
Lineker scored 42 goals in 103 games during his three-year spell in Catalonia, after his prolific year at Everton when he bagged 30 in 41.
The joke went down well with some, less with others.
Tough crowd.

Coutinho’s move to Barcelona is set to be announced either tonight or tomorrow when Barcelona play Levante at 3:15pm in La Liga. The Brazilian has been pushing for the move and will be delighted that it’s finally going through.
