The sacking of Brendan Rodgers spared Manchester United a few negative headlines after their 3-0 humbling at the Emirates on Sunday.
Three Arsenal goals in the opening 20 minutes were enough for the Gunners to leapfrog United into second place in the Premier League table – albeit on goal difference.
Gary Neville, who was co-commentating on the game for Sky Sports, took to Twitter after the match to entice renowned Arsenal fan Piers Morgan into a bet.
Still can't quite believe what happened today.
Stunning performance.
Alexis/Walcott/Ozil/Cech all particularly magnificent. #afc— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) October 4, 2015
Stating the he still believed that United would finish higher in the table than Arsenal, Neville suggested the loser of the bet should pay £5,000 to Manchester Children’s Hospital.
Morgan agreed, providing Neville agreed to donate an identical amount to Great Ormond Street Hospital if he lost.
Although this is almost certainly the precursor to a Twitter argument which will continue until the end of the season, it’s good to know that it will result in money going to a worthy cause.
Done. If you lose, 5k to @GreatOrmondSt > @GNev2 Level on points! Bet Utd finish above Arsenal. 5k to Manchester Children's Hospital loser?
