Gary Neville’s hilarious response to Jamie Carragher’s screaming Liverpool celebration

The Carragher scream is the new commentary classic

Liverpool secured a late victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday to keep themselves firmly in the Premier League title race.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had taken the lead in the first half via Roberto Firmino, before a Lucas Moura goal in the second half levelled things up. It looked like it was going to end 1-1, until a Mohamed Salah header was parried by Hugo Lloris directly against the legs of defender Toby Alderweireld, whose reactions were too slow to prevent the ball from rolling into the net.

The goal was understandably met with rapturous celebrations by those in attendance, and for those watching on Sky Sports they would have heard another local getting rather happy about the goal too.

Immediately after the ball went over the line, a voice could be heard shouting “Salah, you dancer” and it sounded suspiciously like a certain Mr. Jamie Carragher.

The Liverpool players continued to celebrate as Martin Tyler and co-commentator Gary Neville spoke about the goal’s importance. Then Neville – unable to resist – said: “A local fan grabbed the microphone and started celebrating, apologies for that.”

Carragher’s scream was heard by fans watching, many of whom said it was the best piece of commentary in years, up there with Gary Neville’s famous ‘orgasmic scream’ from Chelsea’s victory at the Camp Nou in 2012.
