‘Salah has played them hasn’t he’
Gary Neville has claimed that Mohamed Salah has ‘played’ Liverpool over the Egyptian’s new three-year deal with the Reds.
The 30-year-old had entered the final 12 months of his previous deal, but opted to extend his contract at Anfield, which has seen him become the best paid player in the club’s history.
While Liverpool fans were understandably exited about Salah new’s deal, former Manchester United defender Neville believes the ex-Roma man is the one who has won the negotiations.
Neville wrote on Twitter: “Salah has played them hasn’t he”, alongside two laughing emojis and a winking emoji.

Neville previously predicted that Salah would leave Merseyside for one of three European clubs, but, evidently, has bee proven wrong.
Speaking on Sky Sports‘ Overlap fans’ forum back in October 2021, he said: “I don’t think he will stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career. It’s my personal view. It’s always been that view but I could be wrong.
“The Premier League would be weaker if he left. I just think you look at someone like Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Kylian Mbappe, it’s not all about the money.
“There’s a project and there’s something they have to achieve in their lives. They have to play at certain clubs, they have to go and experience certain things. I think Salah’s got to experience Real Madrid, the Bernabeu – Real Madrid are going to come back, by the way.
“I know it’s not great at the moment at Barcelona and Madrid but Salah is similar to those I’ve just mentioned, I think he has to have that on his CV at the end of his career.
“I think he’s done an unbelievable job at Liverpool. I’ve just always felt he wants a Paris [Saint-Germain], a Real Madrid, a Barcelona and I think he’ll go and get it. But I might be wrong.”

Salah has played a crucial role in the Reds’ recent success, scoring 156 goals in 254 appearances. The Egyptian was also named both the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players’ Player of the Year last season as Jurgen Klopp’s side won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
