George Groves defeated Jamie Cox with a fourth round knockout at the SSE Wembley Arena, retaining his WBA super-middleweight Championship.
Prior to the landing the body shot which settled the contest, Groves hadn’t had it all his way with Cox forcing him on to the ropes on a couple of occasions.
But a powerful right hand ended the contest, with Cox conceded he’d made a mistake while speaking to ITV Box Office after the fight was over.

“Groves placed the shot greatly, he is a very good champion, I knew that,” he said.
“I made a mistake and he made me pay. It was a great fight up to then, I was coming into the fight and he landed one to the body. I thought he would be stronger. I could handle his power, but he placed the shot very well.”
Groves, who will now face Chris Eubank Jr in January, said:Â “I was landing big body shots the whole night, I knew his power of recovery was good. It was a crippling shot, I knew he would not get up. Don’t give me a chance to make a shot to the body, you won’t get up.”
