Goalscoring defenders are a fun part of football
Throughout football history there have been plenty of them, with historically Ronald Koeman and more recently Sergio Ramos being the defenders which stand out to us as being particularly dangerous inside both boxes.
The conversation around goalscoring defender was one we discussed today after witnessing Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk’s crucial UEFA Nations League equaliser for his country against Germany on Monday evening.

This goal got us discussing different goals from the likes of Philippe Albert, Gary Cahill and Philippe Mexes, before also got us thinking about making a quiz about goalscoring defenders. Which is exactly what we did.
