Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer team founded by David Beckham, have announced the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.

The Argentina international arrived in Miami last week, where he was greeted by Jorge Mas, one of the co-owners of Inter Miami, ahead of his move.

He joins the MLS side four years after joining Juventus from Napoli for a then-record Italian fee of £75 million. He spent three full seasons with Juve, while the 2018/19 season was spent on loan at AC Milan and then Chelsea.

The 32-year-old, who scored an impressive 66 goals in 148 matches for the Old Lady, was informed that he didn’t have a future at the club shortly after Andrea Pirlo’s appointment as manager in August.

Speaking about the signing of Higuain, Blaise Matuidi told Inter Miami’s website: “We are very happy for Gonzalo. He’s a very good player who scores a lot of goals. He brings a lot of experience and will help the team to be better and better. I’ve known him for four years and I know what kind of player he is. You’ll see a good striker and an amazing football player and a good person.”
