Roy Hodgson has sent a big fat oh-no-I-didn’t message to nosy photographers everywhere by not selecting Harry Kane in his starting eleven for England’s European Championship qualifier against Lithuania.
The England manager has instead opted for Danny Welbeck alongside captain Wayne Rooney. In fairness to Hodgson, Welbeck has scored five goals in the four qualifying games thus far and it would have been very harsh to drop him for the in-form Spurs marksmen.
Twitter reacted to the decision with dismay and not a little frustration:
Roy throwing caution to the wind and putting Harry Kane on the bench.

So Harry Kane's on the bench? Did we seriously expect anything less from a man that voted Mascherano the best in the world? #bbcfootball

Harry Kane has scored more league goals than Rooney (11) and Welbeck (4) combined this season.
