Redknapp has returned to the club he once managed
Harry Redknapp has confirmed he has returned to Bournemouth after being asked to help out at the Championship club by caretaker manager Jonathan Woodgate.
Woodgate recently replaced Jason Tindall as manager on a temporary basis, with the Cherries sitting sixth in the second tier following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.
Redknapp has agreed to help Woodgate, who he managed during his time as Tottenham boss, until the board appoint a new manager on a permanent basis.
“Jonathan Woodgate played under me at Spurs and he’s a great lad,” the 73-year-old told Sky Sports News. “He’s asked me to come in for a few days and watch them train.
“Just to be around the place for a few days, help keep my eye on things for him.”
Redknapp has been out of management since he departed Birmingham in 2017. His managerial career began at Bournemouth in 1983, where he remained in position for nine years. He still lives on the south coast, but his return to the club is only thought to be a temporary measure.
Woodgate is expected to remain in charge for Bournemouth’s FA Cup game with Burnley on Tuesday, with the club’s board expected to draw up a shortlist of names for the job from those who have applied.
