‘People need to stop telling lies and get their facts right’
Hector Bellerin has accused a Daily Mail report of ‘telling lies’ about him.
The article, which appeared in the Sport section of MailOnline on Thursday, claimed the Arsenal right-back had spent £25,000 on a painting of himself, created by artist Endless.
In a tweet sent later that day, the Spanish defender makes clear that he didn’t pay a penny for the painting which was actually received as a gift from the artist.
‘People need to stop telling lies and get their facts right,’ Bellerin’s tweet reads. ‘It was a gift from the artist. Didn’t pay anything for it.’

Since Bellerin’s tweet was sent, the story appears to have been updated – now making clear that the piece of artwork was given to the 23-year-old without any money exchanging hands.
Bellerin played for Arsenal as they recorded their first victory under new boss Unai Emery at home to West Ham on Saturday. They will hope to follow the 3-1 win with another positive result when they take on newly promoted Cardiff City away this coming Sunday.
