Hector Bellerin leaves Alex Oxlade Chamberlain hanging for an age after basketball trickshot

7 seconds that felt like an eternity

JOE

If we’re being completely honest, this story (if you can call a couple of hundred words a ‘story’) probably should be about Héctor Bellerín nonchalantly flicking a basketball over his head and into a hoop.

After all, the footage comes directly from the Arsenal right back’s Twitter feed, so it’s probably what he would’ve wanted us to be talking about.

Instead though, we’re going to concentrate on something else entirely, and ask you to keep your eye on poor old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Not that we need to ask you, that is. Plenty of those that have watched the clip couldn’t help but notice how the Ox was left hanging for a whole seven seconds – seven seconds that feel like an absolute eternity – after Bellerin completes his trick.

Fortunately for the former Southampton player, his persistence pays off and his quest to congratulate his teammate with a high-fivey-handshakey-type greeting eventually ends well.

A much nicer ending to this little episode than the time that David De Gea nearly retired from international football after this rejection from Spain teammate, Cesc Fabregas.

Horrible to watch, even after all this time.
