And that’s the end of Champions League until the New Year.
Following the final round of group fixtures this week, we’re staring at the knockout stages and the Round of 16 draw will take place at 11am on Monday 12th December.
Three Premier League teams have made it into Monday’s draw for the Round of 16.
Arsenal, Leicester and Manchester City will all be hoping for favourable draws as they look to continue their European journeys.
Here we take a look at the possible teams which each Premier League side could face.
ArsenalÂ
Arsenal finished top of Group A – the first time they reached the summit of a Champions League group since 2012.
As a result, Arsenal will be hoping for some bit of luck in the draw as they look to buck the annual tradition of getting knocked out at the Round of 16 stage.
Unfortunately for them, some major sides finished in second place in their respective groups, so Arsene Wenger’s men could still be in trouble.
Here’s who the Gunners could come up against in the next round.
- Bayer Leverkusen
- Bayern Munich
- Benfica
- Real Madrid
- Porto
- Sevilla
Leicester City
One of the biggest losses by an English side in the Champions League took place on Wednesday night when Leicester were thrashed 5-0 by Porto.
That’s not a statistic which Claudio Ranieri would have wanted hanging over his team after their final group game.
Nevertheless, the Foxes have finished top of their group, something which you can guarantee Leicester would have taken at the beginning of the campaign.
Leicester, like Arsenal, face some potential sharks in the pool of teams they could face but they will hope the good luck they received in their group stage draw will continue here.
- Bayer Leverkusen
- Bayern Munich
- Benfica
- Paris Saint-Germain
- Real Madrid
- Sevilla
Manchester City
Manchester City have finished second in Group C behind Pep Guradiola’s former club, Barcelona.
Guardiola’s side rounded off their group campaign with a 1-1 draw with Celtic at the Etihad which maintained their unbeaten home record in the competition this year.
They will be hoping that trend continues as they could potentially face one of the following sides.
- Atletico Madrid
- Borussia Dortmund
- Juventus
- Monaco
- Napoli
Unfortunately for Tottenham Hotspur, they have to be content with plotting an assault on the Europa League.
