Euro 2016 isn’t quite over yet, but let’s be honest, our interest in it kind of ended with the Welsh defeat to Portugal on Wednesday night.
So what’s next? You might remember that there’s another tournament starting up in August. You might have heard of it – it’s called the Premier League.
We’re just over a month away from getting back to cheering against all those players we’ve been cheering for all summer and you can start to get properly excited now that we finally know what matches will be broadcast for the first two months of the new season.
And this year’s Premier League sees the introduction of Friday Night Football, with Manchester United (seriously, as if it was ever going to be someone else) taking on Southampton as we introduce the sport to the one free night on football fans’ calendars. Meanhwhile, Leicester City begin their title defence in the first game of the season, away to newly promoted Hull.
Arsenal fans won’t have to wait long to see their side as their opening game against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium will be live on Sky Sports at 4pm on Sunday, August 14 – directly after Manchester United’s trip to Bournemouth which kicks off at 1.30pm.
Manchester City are up second on TV for their game against Sunderland on BT Sport, while Chelsea fans will get their first look at new coach Antonio Conte on the first Monday Night Football of the season on Sky Sports when they host West Ham during the opening round of fixtures.
Spurs fans must wait until August 27 before they get a glimpse of Mauricio Pochettino’s men against Liverpool in the early Saturday kick off on Sky Sports.
