Did Hull City’s Alex Bruce really just find out he’d been released via Twitter?

“Thanks for letting me know!”

It hasn’t been the greatest season for veteran Hull City defender Alex Bruce, son of former Hull manager Steve Bruce. After failing to get into the first team after they were promoted to the Premier League, he was loaned out to Wigan Athletic, where he also didn’t feature. All that is bad enough, but something a lot more embarrassing just happened.

Following their relegation, Hull have released a load of players, including Bruce. That’s pretty standard for a relegated club, right?

But Hull did one key thing wrong – they apparently hadn’t confirmed it with Alex Bruce himself. He appeared to only find out when the club tweeted about it.

Good to see the players are being kept up to date there.

It might not be as bad as it looks – after being asked by a fan earlier this week, he did think his time at Hull was up.

But was it officially confirmed to him before the latest tweet was sent out? That’s the question. Let’s hope for Hull’s sake that they aren’t that disorganised.
