Incredible atmosphere at the Manchester City Academy Stadium
Iceland supporters were hailed by fellow spectators and social media users for helping to create an incredible atmosphere for the nation’s Euros clash against Belgium.
Jón Þór Hauksson’s side began their tournament against Belgium at the Manchester City Academy Stadium on Sunday, hoping to make a positive start against Ives Serneels’ team.
While the first half ended goalless, there was still plenty of action for the fans in attendance to enjoy. Iceland missed a chance to take the lead in the first period after Berglind Thorvaldsdottir saw her penalty saved by Belgium’s Nicky Evrard.
However, Iceland did eventually take the lead early in the second half thanks to Berglind Thorvaldsdottir’s smart header.
Redemption for Berglind Bjorg Thorvaldsdóttir!
