Impressive stat shows Mesut Özil’s creativity is even greater than we realised

Tom Victor

Anyone who’s been paying any attention to the Premier League this season will know that Mesut Özil has been taking over every statistician’s assists column.

The German international has been remarkably creative ever since joining Arsenal, but this is the year that the chances he’s creating are being tucked away at an alarming rate.

We already brought you news that Özil had created almost as many clear-cut chances as the entire Spurs team in the North London Derby, but this next one takes it to another level.

His influence has been such that even before the victory over Man City, his 13 assists were more than the entire Manchester United squad, or that of champions Chelsea, had amassed all season.

Add another two from that game and he’s running away with it.
