Wayne Rooney became England’s all-time leading goalscorer thanks to a penalty in England’s recent Euro 2016 qualifier win over Switzerland.
As you’d expect, the Manchester United captain’s record at international level compared to the greats of the game became one of the main talking points in the aftermath.
The BBC put together a list of ‘selected’ international goalscorers with which to compare Rooney’s record, but decided to leave out the leader among active players – Ireland striker Robbie Keane
The former Tottenham man is the fifth most prolific international goalscorer from a European country of all time with 67 international goals – and has scored an international goal in every year since making his debut in 1998.
Wayne Rooney – he's no Ali Daei!
He is pretty good though, and so are this lot.
