Don’t get us wrong, this could be completely innocent.
In the days building up to the ‘Battle of Britain’, pretty much every word that’s left Gareth Bale’s mouth – regardless of the fact it’s been pretty light-hearted – has been interpreted as a dig at England.
On top of that, the Welsh have been making sure that everyone knows that they’re ‘hashtag together stronger’. Bale’s said it, the official Welsh Twitter account has tweeted it, the Manic Street Preachers have sung it and Postman Pat has probably shaved it on to the back of his black and white cat.
So when Harry Kane followed up England’s last gasp winner with this tweet, you can see why some people might have suspected this was the Tottenham man having exchanging a cheeky dig of his own.

Was this his way of showing that this England group were just as unified as their opponents? Plenty of people who saw it seem to think it was.
If it was, Jermaine Jenas could maybe learn a thing or two about subtlety…

England now face Slovakia in their final match, with Wales taking on Russia. Both games will be played on Monday 20 June at 8pm. As of writing no channel has been confirmed for its screening.
