Perhaps Jack Grealish’s latest suitors are not aware of his unwanted Premier League record.
The 21-year-old has been putting his club career back together at Aston Villa after a pretty forgettable 2015/16.
Grealish holds the ignominious record of having the worst Premier League season in history. The Birmingham outfit only picked up 17 points as they finished rock bottom of the league but they picked up a grand total of 0 points with Grealish in his 16 appearances.
This time out, in the Championship, Grealish has three goals and an assist in 21 appearances [16 starts]. It has not all been plain sailing but he has strived to focus on the job at hand – promotion. That cause may well be helped by Villa’s January transfer arrivals, one of who is Cork native Conor Hourihane.
However, according to The Daily Mail, Grealish may be back in the Premier League by the time the transfer window closes, on Tuesday.
Leicester City are reportedly after Middlesbrough attacker Gaston Ramirez and the club may sell if the league champions up their initial bid of £12m. ‘Boro boss Aitor Karanka has sent scouts to watch Grealish in action and, along with Jese Rodriguez and Robert Snodgrass, is considering a bid of his own.
The outlet claims Villa, who have signed four players on Steve Bruce’s wishlist, would need to sell before buying any more due to Financial Fair Play rules.
We could be seeing Grealish and his tiny shinpads back in the Premier League before we know it.
