Jack Wilshere’s demise and Dele Alli’s rise perfectly captured in one resounding stat

Arsenal fans are not very happy right now.

Their club is well out of the Premier League title race and limping to the end of the season.

This tweet from the Gunners on Monday night had more than a hint of ‘too little, too late’ about it.

Yes, Jack Wilshere is back in action and has now played his third U21 game since making a comeback from a particularly troublesome foot injury.

Wilshere wrenched his knee during his U21 appearance on Monday but carried on after receiving treatment, managing to get on the score-sheet.

The 24-year-old may yet get a run-out with the seniors but he has little chance of making England’s Euro 2016 squad – but someone who is definitely heading to France is Tottenham’s Dele Alli.

The 20-year-old scored a brace in Spurs’ 4-0 win over Stoke on the same night to cut Leicester City’s lead atop the table to five points.

And the rise of Alli looks even more incredible when you consider this fantastic stat:

What a difference eight months make.
