Jamie Carragher compares John Terry’s Chelsea exit to another high-profile departure

Jamie Carragher thinks Chelsea will have as tough a time replacing John Terry as Manchester United had when Roy Keane left.

Blues captain (leader, legend) Terry announced he is likely to leave the club this summer when his contract expires, with moves to MLS or the Middle East being touted.

And Carragher, who like Terry spent his entire career with one club, expressed his shock at the London club’s approach.

“He’s Chelsea’s best centre back. Why have they allowed this to happen?” Carragher told the Daily Mail.

“This will be like Manchester United trying to find a replacement for Roy Keane.”

Carragher has predicted that Terry will follow former England team-mate to Major League Soccer, but believes the 35-year-old would have no trouble carrying on in the Premier League if he wanted to.

“I’d have him at Liverpool tomorrow,” he said.
