Jamie Carragher tears into Chelsea as he defends Liverpool fans’ Europa League celebrations

'Chelsea haven't got any history'

Liverpool fans are still riding high after Thursday night’s win over Borussia Dortmund, but not everyone is happy.

The Reds staged a remarkable comeback that included an injury time winner from Dejan Lovren (of all people), to overcome Jurgen Klopp’s former side in a thrilling Europa League tie.

It was one of the greatest European nights in recent memory and gives Liverpool a real chance at qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

But in the immediate aftermath of the game, among the joyous celebrations across the city, TalkSport presenter (and Chelsea fan) Jason Cundy attempted to bring Liverpool fans crashing down to earth by bringing up their recent struggles, particularly their failures to obtain the Holy Grail that is the league title.

One famous Red wasn’t too happy with such an assessment.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Cundy called Carragher up to hash out their problems.

Unsurprisingly, the former Liverpool defender did not back down, saying that it was opportunistic and mean-spirited of Cundy to focus on Liverpool’s failures so soon after a clear success.

The TalkSport presenter accused Liverpool fans of living in the past, to which Carragher devastatingly replied: “Doesn’t everyone do that? Chelsea haven’t got any, so it’s difficult for them.”

The whole exchange lasted over 11 minutes, but the first three minutes are where the good stuff is.
