An image has been posted on social media in the last 24 hours showing Jamie Vardy in an Arsenal kit.
People posting the image on Twitter are claiming the photo has been leaked, and that it means the deal to take the Leicester striker to Arsenal is now done.
It seems incredibly familiar to the leak of a photo of Granit Xhaka posing in an Arsenal kit before his move to north London was officially announced.
And that’s because it is incredibly familiar… in fact, the “leaked” Jamie Vardy photo appears to just be a grainy photoshop of the Xhaka photo.
Obviously it’s almost impossible to confirm this for sure, but when the two images are placed side by side, the Vardy image just appears to be a horizontally flipped version of the Xhaka image (with Xhaka’s head replaced by Vardy’s).
Sorry to burst the bubble, but if something seems too good to be true, it’s usually because it is.
Meanwhile Vardy has flown to France with the England squad, which could delay his rumoured move to Arsenal until after the Euros.
The latest twist in the tale is that the two parties are struggling to agree terms on contract length. Arsenal will be aware that, at the age of 29, handing the England striker a lengthy deal could be a gamble.
But both Vardy and Arsenal are desperate to make this deal happen, with senior members of the Arsenal squad being briefed that the deal will go ahead this summer.
