Jesse Lingard’s screamer set Manchester United on their way to all three points at the Riverside on Sunday.
But that’s not why you’re here, is it?
As good as his goal was, several thousand people watching the game appeared more interested in his choice of celebration in the seconds that followed it.
While one popular theory suggested that the jig Lingard performed was a nod to the recent St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, the man himself has confirmed that it was actually more to do with the recently-released Drake album.
“It’s a new album that’s just dropped by Drake,” he explained when speaking to MUTV after the game. “One of the songs… I promised a mate I’d do that celebration if I scored, so I did it!
“Obviously, there weren’t many options on at the time,” he said of his goal.
“I decided to take it on myself and it went in the top corner. Every goal is important and it was a massive game to win today and climb the table.”
United head into the international break having finally got out of sixth place. Their 3-1 victory over Middlesbrough was enough to see them move ahead of Arsenal, who lost by the same scoreline at West Brom on Saturday afternoon.
