Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink slams ‘disrespectful’ Romelu Lukaku for explosive interview

‘It’s four matches, to spit your dummy out after four matches and you want to go away and back to Inter.’

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has criticised ‘disrespectful’ Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku for his recent interview where he claimed he was unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian striker is set to miss the clash against the Reds after stating that he was unhappy at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old, who has scored in successive Premier League games, gave an interview in December where he made several revelations, including a comment that he was unhappy with the style of play manager Thomas Tuchel is currently opting for.

Following Lukaku’s interview, former Blues striker Hasselbaink called out the former Inter Milan man for ‘spitting his dummy out’.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “That is fine having frustration that you’re not playing, that is fine.

“How you react to that is coming in at Aston Villa and making the difference, every player is going to go through bad spells, every player is going to have injuries.

“If you don’t come back the way that you should, the manager has got the right to not play you.

“It’s four matches, to spit your dummy out after four matches and say that you want to go back to Inter [Milan] because they sorted you out when you came from Manchester United, if you really wanted to stay at Inter, then say ‘I’m not going to Chelsea, give me half my wages and I’ll stay’.

“We all know that he had to leave Inter because they were in financial trouble, so if you really love Inter and you really love the club, say ‘I’m staying, give me half of my wages and I want to stay here’.

“That doesn’t happen, does it? No, exactly. What he’s done is really disrespectful.”

Lukaku has scored seven goals and grabbed two assists in 18 appearances since his return to Chelsea in the summer.
