If any of you followed our advice last week and picked Scott Sinclair, you’ll be laughing now.
The Aston Villa winger struck twice in the club’s draw against Sunderland, earning a fair few points for those managers with the foresight to add him to their team.
After the mayhem that occurred at the end of the transfer window, we have something a little different this time around.
We’ve identified three new signings who could make their debuts this weekend, all of whom have a good chance of hitting the ground running for their new clubs.
Michail Antonio – Midfield – £6.0m
West Ham were one of the busiest clubs on deadline day, making two permanent signings and bringing in a further two players on loan.
The winger had made a fast start to the season, scoring four goals in five games for Nottingham Forest, before moving to London in a deal worth around £6m.
With Matt Jarvis loaned out and Mauro Zarate still recovering from injury, the former Reading man will be competing with Victor Moses and Manuel Lanzini for two starting places either side of Diafra Sakho as West Ham welcome a Newcastle side likely to begin on the back foot due to the absence through suspension of Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Adlene Guedioura – Midfield – £4.4m
Guedioura made a brief but significant contribution to Watford’s promotion push last season, and has rejoined the club permanently following two separate spells on loan from Crystal Palace.
The Algerian midfielder is brilliant on the ball and in the tackle, and can become the missing link in a Watford side that is still chasing a win to go with some impressive early performances.
The Hornets will have it tough against Garry Monk’s Swansea, but they will hope the international break has sapped a bit of the Welsh side’s early-season momentum.
Heung-Min Son – Forward – £8.0m
Son was Tottenham’s most high-profile arrival of the transfer window after commanding a fee in the region of £20m, and he has the quality to make an instant impact.
Spurs’ winless start to the season has gone under the radar a little, but failure to take all three points at bottom Sunderland could increase the pressure on a team that scored just three goals in their first four outings.
After hitting a hat-trick for South Korea in their 8-0 World Cup qualifying win over Laos, there should be no question marks over the former Leverkusen man’s form.
