JOE’s Fantasy Football Tips – week 7

Decisions, decisions...

Tom Victor

We’re getting to the point in the season where people are starting to pay close attention to the table, and that goes for fantasy football as well.

Make sure you don’t see your popularity go the way of Steve McClaren and follow our advice for a big week.

Juan Mata – Midfield – £8.7m

There are three consistencies in life: death, taxes, and Manchester United beating Sunderland in the Premier League.

Dick Advocaat’s men have stepped things up in recent weeks, tightening up at the back after shipping seven goals in their first two games – or at least they had until the 4-1 cup reverse against Manchester City in midweek.

They have been most susceptible to runs between defence and midfield, as exemplified by Ryan Mason’s winner for Spurs, and a player of Mata’s ability and movement can capitalise.

Bojan – Striker – £5.3m

Stoke’s slow start to the season can be attributed in part to the absence of Bojan, with the Spanish striker only just returning from the knee injury that had kept him sidelined since January.

The former Barcelona prodigy enjoyed a great debut season in the Potteries, and the goal against Leicester in his first start of the new campaign shows he is back fit and firing.

With a home match against Bournemouth next, he will be looking to help bring Mark Hughes’ team their first win of the season at the seventh attempt.

Brendan Galloway – Defender – £4.5m

If you’re after a cheap defender to save yourself some extra funds for an Aguero or a Rooney, Galloway is your man.

The former MK Dons teenager has slotted into Everton’s back-line in Leighton Baines’ absence, even laying on a goal for Steven Naismith in the impressive win over Chelsea.

Everton are yet to concede a goal away from home, and will be hoping to continue this run at West Brom on Monday night.
