“He’s just got no charisma, no personality at all.”
Roy Hodgson looks set to become Crystal Palace manager, but Joey Barton is not impressed. Hodgson will, according to several reports, replace Frank de Boer at Selhurst Park, and should be confirmed before their game against Southampton on Saturday.
De Boer lost his job on Monday after just 77 days as manager. The former Ajax and Inter Milan coach lost all four of his league games and Palace failed to score a single goal. His reign is the shortest of any permanent manager in Premier League history, and he leaves just 10 weeks into a three-year contract, amid reports of disharmony with his former squad and the Palace hierarchy.
This really was a bad fit https://t.co/Tg9tvIOTpF

Hodgson appears a better fit for Palace, despite his last job ending when England lost to Iceland at Euro 2016, a team coached by a dentist and the smallest country to ever qualify for a major international tournament.
The former Fulham and Blackburn Rovers manager will deploy a more direct style of football, better suited to a squad assembled over the past five years by managers such as Ian Holloway, Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock, Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce.
However, Barton isn’t convinced. The former Manchester City and Newcastle midfielder isn’t exactly inspired by Palace’s decision to opt for Hodgson, and was scathing in his assessment of the one-time Liverpool manager.
“He’s just got no charisma, no personality at all,” Barton said on talkSPORT. ”
“Did you see him at the back end of that England campaign? He just looked like he needed to be taken out into the back garden and have someone pull the trigger on him. A lot of people say he’s a great fella, but I just don’t think [he’s right for Palace]. I didn’t see the Frank de Boer appointment, I thought it was a bit left-field and I think if you’re them you want somebody who lifts the place up.”

Joey wasn’t finished yet.
Just so no-one was in any doubt about his views on the former England manager, Barton made reference on Twitter to the Hodgson’s infamous decision to instruct Harry Kane to take corners at Euro 2016.
Rumours coming out of Selhurst Park that Christian Benteke has been practising corners all morning. #Hodgson
