He may not have been on the pitch to inspire his teammates against Spurs, but John Terry has been making his presence felt following Chelsea’s defeat.
A Dele Alli brace put an end to an incredible run of 13 straight wins for Chelsea last night and denied them a chance to make history. A 14th win would have brought them level with the record set by Arsenal in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.
So it would be understandable if the mood around Chelsea is a bit deflated this morning.
However the club’s captain issued a rallying cry last night reminding players and fans what an incredible achievement the winning streak was and that, more importantly, they are still five points clear at the top of the table.

In an Instagram post Terry said:
“Naturally we are disappointed to lose tonight, but let’s not forget what a great run of games we have been on and the attitude and performances we have shown in these games to put us in this position.
“We’re still top of the league and that’s where we want to be come the end of May. We pick ourselves up and go again.”
He even threw in a stirring fist pump emoji for added inspiration.
