There was high drama at the UFC 210 weigh-ins on Friday.
For a short time, about three minutes, it looked like the card had lost its only title fight.
But just before the deadline, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier tipped the scales at 206.2 lbs, 1.6 lbs over championship weight. Considering that time was ticking down and he already required a towel to weigh in, it seemed like the title fight was off.
Usually, once a fighter weighs in, that’s it. However, the NYASC allows championship fighters a second chance to make weight. Somehow, Cormier left and re-emerged two minutes later on weight, which bamboozled a lot of people. His opponent, Anthony Johnson also came in on the limit, so the title fight will go ahead as planned.

One man who was shocked at what he saw from Daniel Cormier was his arch nemesis, Jon Jones. The former champion, who was never beaten to lose the belt, is in Buffalo for the event and he gave his take on the weigh-in drama to media.
“That was absolutely nuts! I couldn’t believe what I was witnessing.”
He believes that DC used ‘blatant foul play’ in order to come in at 205 lbs on the button.
“I mean, I watched the guy. If you focus on his hands you can see him looking down and like balancing out his weight just right to make 205. What a clever trick. Pretty dishonest of him.
“The crazy thing is it was allowed to happen. I would imagine there has to be some type of commission or something to go back and see this blatant foul play and address it. No one’s addressed it. He just completely got away with doing one of the dirtiest things I’ve seen in sports.”
