Marcio Pontes is backing his man to the hilt.
Jose Aldo’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach has dismissed the chances of Conor McGregor unifying the featherweight belts at UFC 194.
Earlier this week, John Kavanagh [McGregor’s coach] suggested The Notorious could spark Aldo out by the 60-second mark. Now, the McGregor camp have their response.
Pontes, who trained with Scarface as recently as late November, told Globo that McGregor is in for the fight of his life.
“I can speak properly because I was in Rio de Janeiro three weeks ago. What Aldo is doing in the camp is [at] another level.
“I see no possible way for a McGregor win.
“Of all the times he has defended the belt, he has never been more prepared. He is very focused.”
Pontes added, “Aldo lives with the talk but is treating this like just another fight.
“He has had to put up with a lot of talk from McGregor, who says he will break him. Jose is eager to enter the octagon and end the talk.”
