Remember when Jose sat beaming in front of the country’s media and proclaimed he was now ‘the happy one’?
Those days are now well and truly behind him as the Portuguese has become more and more abrasive in his dealings with journalists.
Maybe it was the trauma of his dismal last season with Chelsea, or perhaps he feels he was judged too harshly and hastily as United stuttered earlier this season, but his once loved-up relationship with the sports press has soured remarkably.
Last night produced the latest skirmish between Jose and the fourth estate.
When the Manchester United manager stopped for a quick word with a BBC journalist after his frustrating 0-0 draw with Hull, it was clear from the off tonight we were getting the tetchy one.
When asked initially for his assessment of the game he simply replied:
“We didn’t score…
“If you don’t score, it isn’t possible to win.”
Things got more awkward from there on. Matters finally came to a head when the former Chelsea manager complained that the ref had maybe let Hull get away with more than he should have.

When the BBC reporter asked Jose if he could have examples of any specific decisions, he shot back with:
“Well if you don’t know football then you shouldn’t be with a microphone.”
Ouch.
