After signing for Manchester United for £89 million, it’s understandable that there has been a lot of pressure of Paul Pogba.
Despite an excellent start to the season, since being derailed by a hamstring injury in September he has failed to justify the gigantic price tag in the eyes of many. In recent weeks, he has been left out of the Manchester United starting line-up by boss Jose Mourinho, with his attitude being questioned, and suggestions that he is unhappy at the club.
This had led to speculation that United might be intending to sell Pogba in the transfer window this summer. But Yahoo Sport are reporting that Mourinho intends to stick with the 25 year-old, and hopes to get the very best out of him next year.
The French midfielder has reportedly been training poorly, and not making an impact in the big games. According to a Yahoo source: “Jose likes the player, but the player does not have his head in football. Pogba is not focused on football, he has his head in music, in hairstyles, in shoes.” Despite this, Mourinho doesn’t merely want to write his signing off as a failure, and instead try and make it work.
Yahoo also say Pogba has discussed the issue with France coach Didier Deschamps. The player was left out of Friday’s friendly against Colombia because of this – though he returned to score an incredible free kick against Russia on Tuesday.
