Jose Mourinho has reportedly named a price for Luke Shaw

Shaw appears to be edging towards an exit

It’s looking increasingly likely that Luke Shaw’s time as a Manchester United player is almost up.

Signed from Southampton three-and-a-half years ago, it was hoped the then-teenager would nail down the left-back position at Old Trafford for years to come.

However, having suffered a broken leg against PSV Eindhoven in September 2015, Shaw has rarely featured for United’s first team. A string of further injuries have contributed to his slide down the pecking order, with Jose Mourinho currently favouring Ashley Young as United’s first-choice left-back.

Yet again, talk of a move away from United has surfaced, with The Mirror claiming Mourinho is willing to accept offers of £20m for the the England international.

Newcastle are credited with interest in the player, though the report adds that they would prefer a loan move as they can’t afford the reported asking price.

Other unnamed clubs are also said to be keen on loaning the 22-year-old, who will be eyeing a return to first team football in the hope of resurrecting his chances of playing for England at next summer’s World Cup.

Although it seems to many that his United career may now be unsalvageable, perhaps a successful loan spell for the second half of the season might just be enough for Shaw to get back on track at Old Trafford.
