Not only was Liverpool versus Manchester United one of the most dull and underwhelming games of the Premier League season so far, we’re *still* talking about it.
With little in the way of ‘highlights’ from the game to pick apart, most of the post-match discussion has centred on Jose Mourinho’s bus-parking tactics on Saturday afternoon (and in every big game his teams have played away from home EVER, for that matter).
That aside, the absolute nothing incident that took place between United’s Romelu Lukaku and the man tasked with marking him on Saturday afternoon, Dejan Lovren, has also been discussed far more than it probably should have been in the time since the game finished.
In the seconds after Lovren had tackled Lukaku, the Belgian’s foot appeared to make contact with the Croatian, who responded by rolling a distance of around 40 yards in supposed agony. Nobody else (perhaps with the exception of Gary Neville) seemed to have an issue with the incident.
Lovren claimed after the game that he believed Lukaku had intentionally clipped him with his boot before adding the need to “move on” from the incident.

Speaking ahead of United’s Champions League game with Benfica, Mourinho has now hit back at Lovren, pointing out the contradictory nature of his comments.
“You know I read something but it’s quite… there is a bit contradiction there,” Mourinho explained. “He says, ‘Let’s move on and forget what happened’ but then he spends 10 minutes about what he thinks happened and didn’t happen.
“So for me words without any meaning and FA committee is there to analyse and make decisions, so no comment.”
Lovren was able to continue playing against United and is not expected to have any lasting effects from being brushed by Lukaku’s boot. Even more impressively, he isn’t thought to have felt dizzy after rolling 63 times across the Anfield turf.
