Jose Mourinho’s reported top transfer target for Manchester United looks pretty unattainable

Tough sell

This could be difficult.

If he becomes Manchester United manager next season, Jose Mourinho has identified Harry Kane as his main transfer target.

According to a report in the Independent, by football journalist Miguel Delaney, Mourinho sees the Tottenham Hotspur striker as ideal to revitalise a struggling United side.

The 22-year-old has been in excellent form for Spurs over the past two seasons, and is currently atop the Premier League goalscoring charts, alongside Jamie Vardy, with 19 goals.GettyImages-483385058However, Spurs are reportedly confident Kane, who has an excellent relationship with manager Mauricio Pochettino, wants to stay at the club.

While United may find it difficult to do business with the London club.

According to the report:

Spurs consider Kane unsellable and their chairman Daniel Levy has proved an immensely tough negotiator in the market – especially with United, who have barely done any deals with Tottenham’s hierarchy since fraught negotiations over the purchase of Dimitar Berbatov in 2008. That went above £30m but United would need to go well over £50m and probably nearer to £60m to have the slightest chance of forcing a Kane move.

Mourinho reportedly has plans to bring five players to Old Trafford next season – “two defenders, a central midfielder, a fast right winger and a mobile striker.”
