A spot of warm weather training sounded like a great idea to Jose Mourinho.
With the famously congested festive fixture list behind them, Manchester United found themselves with a nice break between games after their FA Cup win over Derby County on Friday night.
With that in mind, he decided to book the squad on a trip, escaping the Mancunian winter for a few days and returning refreshed for their next game at home to Stoke next Monday.
Dubai seemed like the perfect choice. Built on the edge of a desert, decent weather was guaranteed… wasn’t it? Well, not exactly.
Having arrived on Monday, Mourinho appeared to see the funny side of the weather that greeted his players and staff.
Posting a short video on his Instagram page, the United boss revealed that it was actually pissing it down in UAE city.
‘DUBAI… warm weather training camp,’ he wrote in the accompanying caption – adding a laughing face emoji to show he appreciated the irony.

United were drawn against League Two Yeovil in the next round of the FA Cup on Monday evening.
Having beaten Derby 2-0 on Friday, it was Coventry City’s win over Stoke which helped guarantee United’s trip to Dubai.
