José Mourinho never misses a trick.
His attention to detail is something we’ve come to expect from the man since he first caught our attention with Porto in 2004.
With that in mind, you can probably understand why Manchester United fans have been circulating a short clip of Mourinho’s post-match interview following the win at West Ham on January 2.
Although the footage is nearly two weeks old, it appears to be gaining some more retweets from United fans as their weekend clash with Liverpool approaches.
Speaking to MUTV after his side’s 2-0 win at the London Stadium, Mourinho was reminded by the reporter that the gap between his side and Liverpool had narrowed following Liverpool’s draw at Sunderland earlier in the afternoon.
Slightly narrowing his eyes in apparent confusion, Mourinho asked how the game at the Stadium of Light had finished. Informed that the game had indeed ended as a draw, Mourinho continues:
“They drew?” he adds. “Not win, 2-1?”
The reporter then informs him of the late Jermaine Defoe penalty that had seen Liverpool surrender two points.
Had Mouringo *really* not been aware that Liverpool, United’s fiercest rivals, had let a couple of points slip through their grasp? Plenty of United fans, including the one originally sharing the footage below, don’t appear too convinced.
