Juan Mata has chosen his all-time greatest Manchester United team.
You’d expect some club legends in there like Bobby Charlton, George Best and Eric Cantona. These are the players that Man United were built on.
There’s even some players from United’s modern era under Alex Ferguson like Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra.
With only 11 spots available in Mata’s perfect United team, there were always going to be some tough decisions and some shock omissions – fan favourites Gary Neville and Dennis Irwin spring to mind for starters.
But there’s one glaring omission that really can’t be ignored – that’s the fact that Mata has not selected one single player from the current crop playing alongside him under Louis van Gaal.
Is this just an oversight or are these players not yet worthy of the legends tag?
