Manchester United star Juan Mata has expressed his disappointment at how manager Louis van Gaal has treated Victor Valdes.
Former Barcelona shot-stopper Valdes has been frozen out by LVG after reportedly refusing to play a reserve match.
Valdes was expected to leave Manchester this summer, and came close to signing for Besiktas, only for the move to break down at the last minute.

Van Gaal made it painfully clear that the keeper has no future at the club, by refusing to give him a squad number and leaving him out of the official club photo.
The Daily Mirror reports that Mata, who has played alongside Valdes at international level, considers the treatment of his team-mate “a shame”.
He acknowledged that there had been a breakdown between Valdes and Van Gaal, but did not clear up exactly how the relationship fell apart.
âItâs a shame what is happening with him as he is a great goalkeeper. He wants to compete and has proved himself as a goalkeeper,” Mata said.
“I donât know what happened between him and Van Gaal. That is something only they can say.â
