Chiellini and Suarez as teammates? Yes please
Luis Suarez’s time at Barcelona appears to be up. As the club face their greatest ever crisis, several big name players are heading towards the exit door.
Ivan Rakitić has already left, returning to Sevilla, and Luis Suarez looks set to follow, after new manager Ronald Koeman informed him he was not in his plans for the 2020/21 season. Meanwhile, the Lionel Messi saga rumbles on.
While Ajax have expressed interest in bringing Luis Suarez back to the Johan Cruyff arena, Juventus looks like a more realistic destination for the striker, as they are reportedly willing to match the player’s €10million salary.
Both Marca and Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Suarez’s representatives have had a second meeting with Juventus, who are looking to replace Gonzalo HiguaÃn after his contract was terminated.
Juve have also been looking at the possibility of signing Roma’s Edin Dzeko, which would be a more on-brand signing, poaching the best of the rest. But the Bianconeri would prefer to sign Suárez.
PSG are also among the clubs to be interested in the Uruguayan, having let his compatriot Edinson Cavani go on a free this summer.
Personally, I would love to see Suarez at Juventus, just so that he and Giorgio Chiellini, a man Suarez bit on the shoulder at the 2014 World Cup, could be teammates. If you need to refresh your memory…
