De Bruyne injured his knee during Manchester City’s Carabao Cup victory over Fulham
Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out of the Manchester Derby after suffering a fresh knee injury in Manchester City’s Carabao Cup win over Fulham on Thursday.
De Bruyne is expected to miss a further three matches on top of the Manchester derby, including league ties with Southampton and West Ham, as well as the Champions League tie with Shakhtar Donetsk.

Discussing the status of De Bruyne’s injury after the match on Thursday, manager Pep Guardiola was noncommittal.
“He’s being checked with the doctors so I don’t know right now,” he said.
The attacker had just returned from a six-week lay off with a ligament injury to his other knee before returning for the league cup match, but will now face another period on the sidelines which will see him sit out next Sunday’s match with rivals Manchester United.
That injury – a tear to his knee ligament – saw him miss 10 games for City. In his absence however they remain joint-top of the Premier League, as well as top of their Champions League group.
