Newcastle’s keeper Tim Krul has come in for some real abuse on Twitter.
The Magpies’ stopper was spotted congratulating Jermaine Defoe on his wonderstrike in the Tyne-Wear derby.
Which would have been fine, had Newcastle not slumped to a 1-0 defeat to their bitter arch enemies from down the coast.
Here’s Krul giving Defoe some warm plaudits…

And here’s Twitter not being quite so kind to Tim Krul…
Newcastle fans will love seeing Tim Krul laughing in the tunnel and congratulating Defoe. pic.twitter.com/NrZKZa6O6Z

What the hell are you doing @TimKrul?! Smiling and giving Defoe a high 5! Are you mad?! #NUFC #SUNNEW

Some folk wee thankfully a bit more merciful. Not sure they’re Geordies mind…
Sad that Tim Krul is getting stick for congratulating an opponent. Are players not allowed to be nice to each other? Total over reaction.

Jesus, Krul has to defend himself now?!
