Who else is still confused by this?
Kyle Walker was left baffled during a press conference after a confused journalist asked him about competing with a player who does not play football anymore, and never played for Manchester City.
The England right-back was speaking ahead of City’s Champions League clash against Club Brugge on Wednesday night.
After being asked a host of normal questions, Walker was then involved in a bizarre exchange with an Irish reporter.
The reporter asked the 31-year-old about the prospect of competing for the right-back spot with ‘Bernard Mendy’, before also asking about the character of said player. Now, there is a Bernard Mendy in the world of football, but he never played for City and retired in 2016.
Walker was understandably confused by the question and even when the journalist repeated his question, nobody had any idea what was going on.
He looked on in astonishment as he asked City’s media officer for some assistance with what was being asked.
🧐 Bernard Mendy?

Despite the confusion, the reporter refused to back down and continued to ask the question, even after the England international asked, “for Man City?”
Following the strange back-and-fourth, a member of the City media team finally shut down the awkward exchange as he suggested that they were going to ‘move on’ from the question.
It remains to be seen whether or not the reporter was refereeing to defender Ferland Mendy – which would be even more confusing considering he is a left-back, and plays for Real Madrid.
Walker’s main competition at right-back for City is Joao Cancelo, which doesn’t sound anything like Bernard Mendy. We are just as confused as you are.
In Walker’s defence, he handled the situation well and tried his best to understand what was being asked – even if it was an utterly peculiar couple of minutes.
Manchester City host the Belgium side on Wednesday night as Pep Guardiola’s men try to close the gap on current group leader Paris Saint-Germain.
