‘Hala Madrid’

Kylian Mbappe copied Cristiano Ronaldo during his official Real Madrid unveiling.

It was confirmed last month, ahead of the Euros that the France captain would leave Paris Saint Germain for Madrid, something he described as ‘a dream come true’.

He said: “Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. Hala Madrid!”

Today, after completing his medical, Mbappe was officially unveiled in front of Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

It was towards the end of the presentation that Mbappe channelled his inner Ronaldo as he said: “One, two, three. Hala Madrid.”

It was delivered in the same style as Ronaldo back in 2009 when he was first unveiled at the club after joining from Manchester United.

The two footballing icons recently faced each other in the Euro quarter-final which France won on penalties.

Mbappe continued: “My family are so happy. I can see my mum crying. It’s an incredible day for me. I’ve dreamed about this day since I was a kid. Being here today means a lot to me.

“Now I have another dream – and that’s the dream of living up to this club’s history and Madridistas’ expectations. I can promise that I will give my all for the club and this badge.”

He also sent an inspiring message to the youngsters that had gathered in the crowd.

He said: “I’d also like a send a message to all the kids here today. I was once like you. If you have the passion, you’ll achieve your dreams.

“I’m very excited and emotional. The fact that I’m talking so much means that it’s very important for me to be here today. This is the club of my dreams and the biggest club in the history of world football.”

Mbappe has signed a five year contract with Madrid and will wear the number nine shirt next season.
