Crystal Palace are set to announce the signing of Germany international Max Meyer on a free transfer, as a leaked photo from the training ground would suggest that the deal has been completed.

Meyer will be Palace’s third signing of the summer, after Vicente Guaita and Cheikhou Kouyate signed from Getafe and West Ham respectively. Kouyate replaces the departing Yohan Cabaye, who joined Dubai based club Al-Nasr after three seasons at Selhurst Park.
Meyer will offer a more attacking threat from central midfield, replacing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who spent last season on loan at Palace but has returned to his parent club, Chelsea.
Meyer signs for Palace on a free transfer after the midfielder let his contract at Schalke run down after the club refused to bow to his high wage demands.
He will earn a reported £80k per week at Palace, less that what the club were paying Yohan Cabaye.
The 22-year-old had a relatively quiet season last term, but has earned his wonderkid status over the past five seasons he has played for Schalke.
Meyer captained Germany’s olympic side in 2016 after Leon Goretzka suffered a shoulder injury and Meyer led the side to a gold medal final, scoring a hat-trick against Fiji along the way. Meyer scored an equaliser in the gold medal final against Brazil, but Germany had to settle for silver after losing to Brazil on penalties.
